Overview

An Interactive Developer (also referred to as an Interactive Media Developer, Real-Time Developer, or Unity Creative Technologist) specialises in designing and building immersive, interactive experiences using the platform engine spanning games, virtual reality, augmented reality, enterprise simulation, and digital installations. They work across creative, technology, and enterprise teams to bring interactive concepts to life, combining technical development with a strong understanding of user experience and real-time performance.

Unity Interactive Developers bridge the gap between creative vision and technical execution. They collaborate with designers, artists, producers, and clients to build interactive systems that engage audiences across platforms from mobile apps and PC games to VR training tools, AR marketing activations, and location-based interactive experiences.

Key Skills

  • Design and build interactive real-time experiences for games, VR, AR, and enterprise applications

  • Write and maintain C# scripts for user interactions, event systems, and dynamic content

  • Implement VR and AR features using Unity XR Toolkit, ARKit, ARCore, and OpenXR standards

  • Build immersive environments with advanced lighting, shaders, and post-processing effects

  • Integrate motion controllers, hand tracking, haptics, and spatial audio for immersive platforms

  • Develop and manage UI/UX systems including menus, HUDs, and interactive overlays

  • Optimise real-time performance for target platforms including mobile, PC, console, and standalone VR headsets

  • Integrate third-party APIs, SDKs, and data feeds into interactive applications

  • Collaborate with 3D artists and animators to integrate assets and ensure visual fidelity

  • Use version control systems (e.g., Git) to manage code and assets in team environments

  • Support delivery of projects across Agile workflows, including sprint planning and milestone reviews

Salary Range

$84,000 - $120,000 (Median: $102,000)*
