New training pathway combines qualifications, certifications and real-world experience
Sydney, Australia – 7 May 2026 – Australia’s tech skills shortage continues to challenge employers, with demand for skilled workers outpacing supply. At the same time, a growing disconnect is emerging between traditional education pathways and the evolving needs of today’s workforce, with many education pathways struggling to produce job-ready graduates.
Lumify Learn (RTO 45994), part of Lumify Group, has today launched a new training pathway designed to bridge this gap, combining nationally recognised qualifications, industry certifications and real-world experience in one structured pathway, bridging traditional education and fast-paced, certification-led training models.
Jon Lang, CEO of Lumify Group, said employers are increasingly looking for candidates who can apply their skills in a real-world environment, not just demonstrate theoretical knowledge.
“Bridging the gap between education and job readiness is one of the biggest challenges facing the tech industry today. We see this gap through our work with corporate and government organisations, as well as individuals entering the workforce,” said Lang.
Just 1% of employers in Australia believe university IT graduates are job-ready, according to the ACS 2025 Digital Pulse Report. Furthermore, 41% of C-suite Leaders say VET qualifications and industry certifications are better indicators of performance than university degrees.
However, simply having a qualification does not guarantee strong performance in the workplace. 54% of C-suite Leaders say that having real-world experience of applying skills in a business environment is the strongest indicator a graduate will perform at a high standard.
Research highlights a disconnect between what employers are looking for and what traditional learning pathways deliver. Lumify Learn’s Pro Packs are designed to address this by giving learners both the theoretical and practical skills required to contribute effectively to real-world environments. The Pro Packages deliver an all-in-one training program covering key skills areas such as Cyber Security, AI & Data, IT Support, and Programming, with the core offering including:
• Nationally recognised qualifications
• Globally recognised industry certifications
• Hands-on, practical learning (including AI skills)
• Real-world workplace experience via the Lumify Edge Job Placement Program, backed by a money-back guarantee
Unlike standalone courses or bootcamps, Pro Packs provide a complete pathway into a tech career — bringing together structured learning and certification-led training in a way that better reflects how employers assess job readiness.
Joshua Cameron, General Manager of Lumify Learn, said: “Through our Lumify Edge Job Placement Program, we support students to apply the skills they’ve learned in a real workplace setting. This is a unique extension of the learning pathway that connects directly to employment outcomes.”
Michael Ciantar, General Manager at Readygrad, a work experience placement partner working closely with organisations, said, “Employers are no longer just looking for qualifications on paper, they need people who can step into a role and drive results from day one. The most valuable candidates are those who combine formal education with industry certifications and real-world experience.”
With Australia’s technology workforce facing persistent shortages, it has never been more important to produce job-ready graduates. With the launch of Pro Packs, Lumify Learn aims to better prepare learners for employment and help bridge the gap between study and job readiness.
