Overview
Data analysts gather statistical information on a specific topic, then organise and assess this data to construct meaningful conclusions. Much of their work involves surveying target subjects to retrieve the information they need; before compiling, presenting, and interpreting their results through charts, databases, or business reports.
On a given day, data analysts may be working with management to determine business data requirements; cleaning, organising, and maintaining existing databases; and communicating any data trends or patterns they find to relevant stakeholders. They may also work with business leaders to improve strategies of mining data and the quality of data results.
Employment for data scientists is expected to grow quite strongly in the coming years – with a 12.9% projected increase in employment by 2025.
