A Bookkeeper plays an essential role in maintaining the financial health of Australian and New Zealand businesses, recording transactions, reconciling accounts, managing payroll, and ensuring compliance with GST and reporting obligations. Bookkeepers often work closely with business owners, accountants, and finance teams to keep financial records accurate and up to date. They are responsible for day-to-day data entry and transaction processing, bank reconciliation, accounts payable and receivable management, payroll processing, and preparing financial reports that support business decision-making. Key Skills
Record and reconcile financial transactions accurately using Xero and other cloud accounting platforms
Create, approve, and manage customer invoices and supplier bills
Perform bank reconciliations, matching statement lines to invoices and bills
Process payroll including superannuation, Single Touch Payroll (STP) compliance, and leave management
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable ledgers
Prepare and review Business Activity Statements (BAS) for GST reporting
Set up and maintain a Chart of Accounts and financial settings in Xero
Produce financial reports including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Aged Reports
Manage fixed assets, tracked inventory, and expense claims
Use multicurrency and foreign exchange features for businesses with international transactions
