Overview
Junior Data Analysts assist organisations to collect, clean, analyse and visualise data, supporting business decision-making. They transform raw data into meaningful insights, dashboards or reports, help identify trends and anomalies, and may contribute to automation of simple analytics workflows.
Typical Daily Duties:
Importing and cleaning datasets (removing duplicates, handling missing values)
Using tools such as Excel, SQL, Power BI/Tableau to build reports or dashboards
Interpreting results and presenting findings to non-technical stakeholders
Assisting in the development of data-driven recommendations
Supporting more senior analysts with ad-hoc queries or exploratory analysis
Key Skills
Strong analytical and quantitative skills
Proficiency in spreadsheets, SQL, and basic data visualisation tools
Ability to communicate findings clearly (both written and verbal)
Curiosity to ask the right questions of data and investigate patterns
Good time-management and self-motivation (especially for online/distance study)
Qualifications and Experience:
For entry level: IT literacy, comfort with numbers and data, some exposure to reporting or analytics (could be via work, study or personal projects)
A certificate like your course (for example: Certificate IV in IT with AI & Data Focus) is relevant and supports pathways into this role
No strict requirement for a bachelor’s degree in all cases, but commonly a relevant qualification (ICT, Data Science, Business Analytics) or strong demonstrable experience
Salary Range
$65,000 - $85,000*
