Overview
An Automation Assistant identifies areas where business processes can be improved or automated using AI, scripts, or digital workflow tools, and assists in implementing or supporting those solutions. This role sits at the intersection of business and IT, making it relevant for someone with your Certificate IV focus.
Typical Daily Duties
Mapping existing business processes and identifying opportunities for automation
Supporting the implementation of automation tools (e.g., RPA, workflow automation, simple AI modules)
Collaborating with stakeholders in operations/business units to define requirements
Testing automation scripts or workflows and monitoring their performance
Supporting change management and user training related to automated workflows
Key Skills
Understanding of business processes and where automation adds value
Familiarity with workflow tools, spreadsheets, and basic scripting (e.g., Python, low-code platforms)
Analytical problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset
Clear communication with non-technical stakeholders
Ability to monitor and refine automation solutions post-launch
Qualifications and Experience
Certificate IV in IT/Automation/Data/AI is applicable
Experience in operations, business processes, IT support or data workflows is helpful
Demonstrated ability to use digital tools and automate simple tasks
